Membership in the Order of the Sovereigns of Ancient Scandinavia is by invitation to apply and is extended to individuals who can demonstrate verified lineal descent consistent with the historic, genealogical, and cultural standards of the Order.
Eligibility is based upon documented ancestry in one of the following categories:
Applicants may be eligible if they are descended from the ancient kings, jarls, chieftains, or sovereign houses of the historic Scandinavian realms, including but not limited to:
Such descent must predate the Christian consolidation and medieval unification of Scandinavia, marking the conclusion of the early sovereign period of the ancient Scandinavian world.
Applicants may also be eligible if they are descended from a verified Scandinavian immigrant who settled abroad during the early migration periods, including pre-industrial or colonial-era emigration to North America or other regions.
Genealogical Standards
All claims of eligibility are subject to genealogical review and verification in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of the Order. Applicants must provide sufficient documentation to substantiate their lineage, including primary and secondary historical records where applicable.
